About Joris Merks-Benjaminsen

Joris Merks-Benjaminsen worked in several media, advertising, and research businesses before he joined Google in 2010. He now serves there as European Head of Curriculum Design for Google Digital Academy building workshops, courses and e-learning to equip companies for Digital Transformation.

His fresh thinking won him prizes for Dialogue Marketer of the Year for 2012 and Best Marketing Literature of the Year for 2013. Joris was nominated for Company Researcher of the Year and Cross Media Man of the Year in 2013.

In his workshops he unites marketers, brand managers, strategists, creatives, data experts, digital specialists and company leaders to craft their future ready brand strategy together.

As European Head of Curriculum Design, Joris leads a team of learning designers that design workshops, courses and e-learning to equip companies for Digital Transformation. These curricula drive innovation in various fields of expertise amongst which digital marketing, YouTube and video content strategy, display advertising, social, mobile, search and programmatic, but they also focus on C-suites helping them lead wider Digital Transformation.

Joris helps companies and professionals grow digital through boardroom strategy sessions, inspirational speaking engagements, transformational workshops and by creating and leveraging data and insights about marketing/advertising effectiveness and (digital) consumer behavior.

Prior to Google Joris specialized in research based consultancy for the top brand advertisers on brand management, media and creative strategy.

Joris wrote the book “Samurai Business” about courage and ethics in 21st century business. He practiced martial arts for 20 years and holds a black belt in Judo and Aikido. He was European and Open German Champion in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
